Description
This vintage steam powered double head puff iron was manufactured by W. M. Cissel in Louisville, Kentucky in the 1930's - 1940's. It features beautiful cast iron elements, a vivid blue powdercoat finish and chrome "Cissel" logo. This industrial laundry machine was known as a "puff iron". It is equipped with mushroom and sleeve bucks on 9" tall, 2 1/2" diameter, perforated steel shafts. A press lever with a wooden handle is situated above each buck. The levers work well. 4 beautifully cast foot pedals are used to control steam and other functions of the puff iron.Condition: Good for age and use. The light blue powder coat steel base is in good condition with some surface rust on the right side of the piece. . The press pad above the sleeve buck is missing.
History: This puff iron was salvaged from a former dry cleaning and laundry facility in Roanoke, Virginia.
