1942 N DAKOTA POTTERY Rebekah Assemblies PAPERWEIGHT

is
a hard-to-find excellent example of a limited production piece of pottery from the University of North Dakota School of Mines at Grand Forks, North Dakota.  It was only produced in 1942, and then in limited quantity.  This paperweight was made for the Rebekah Assemblies, a service branch of the Odd Fellows, originally founded in 1851.  The blue glaze is unusual.  At first, it looks just plain blue.  On closer examination, there are tiny reddish crystals or dots sparingly scattered all over the blue surface.   Under magnification, smaller white crystals also come into focus all over the piece.  Some of the reddish dots may show in the pictures.
This paperweight measures 3 5/8 inches in diameter, and about 1/2 inch thick.  It is in wonderful condition with no chips, cracks or other defects.
