Description
Comes from W.M. Cissell MFG Co Steam Spotting Board, patent No1-923-422 1-531-50, Louisville KYCommercial industrial laundry and dry-cleaning equipment: William Michael "Mike" Cissell 's company was started April 14, 1934 and continued to operate after his death in July 1959 well into early 2000's.
"His first patented invention...was the steam electric iron...Cissell decided to put asbestos in the steam channel of an iron, thus controlling the heat and allowing gradual evaporation of water and regeneration into steam."
For sale is an antique cast iron pedal/step for Cissell spotting board. Marked "Trade Cissell Mark" and features diamond pattern face surface.
Collectible cast iron piece with unique sense of history - it has a damage from the (bullet?) five inches to the right from the "mark".
Dimensions 21 5/8 inches long with "handles", 19 1/2 inches long rectangular base, 3 inches wide, 1 inch thick
It weights 3 lbs 8 oz.
In found unrestored condition, significant surface rust and scratches, black marker writing are present. No chips, cracks or repairs. Company marking is sharp.
