Description
This is an antique Japanesekasuri
cotton boro fabric which dates from the late Meiji Era (c. 1920s). It has four skillfully applied patches on one side (see picture 2). Kasuri is translated, "to blur" as the threads are dyed before weaving leaving this effect. In the west the word for such a fabric is Ikat.
