Description
This is an antique Japanesekatazome
cotton boro fabric which dates from the late Meiji Era (c. 1910).
This katazome fabric was made using a paste resist printing process. This section of fabric has an area where it has been skillfully patched using another piece of indigo fabric (see enlarged pictures). The design is a floral one, depicting
kiku
(chrysanthemum) blossoms.
Aside from the
a few holes
(see enlarged pictures), which adds character to this boro fabric, this long panel remains in
very good condition
. It measures 14 1/2"
long

13 1/2"
wide
(37 x 34 cm).
