    Description

antique japanese samurai wakizashi katana tanto sword.
this is a long tanto or wakizashi japanese sword in a nice shirasaya. comes with old polished copper habaki with some dents and scratches.
    this sword is signed sukehiro.
this looks to be a koto sword that is old and tired. the rough grains are very visible on the blade, more so on one side than the other. please look at the photos to verify. the blade is hirazukuri form and the nakago is ubu with a slanted ha agari kurijiri end and a single mekugi ana. the dark patina of the nakago shows the age to be old and the pitting has mostly covered the file mark yasurime which seems to be horizontal kiri. the hamon is still very visible and seems to be komidare with no visible turn back at the boshi.
the overall length of the blade is 17”
    nagasa is 12 1/8”
sori is just shy of 5/16”
thickness at the munemachi is just shy of 1/4”
mihaba is a bit over 1”
    back is typical iorimune
there are some pits and lots of loose grains due to the age and over polishing of the blade over time.
