This antique Japanese Taisho era (c. 1920)Sudare
screen has a brocade trim of gold-green silk in a design of crossing blades of grass. Bamboo is intricately split into very uniform strips. Used in
religious
settings as well as in elegant rooms of the home. Hours of work and great craftsmanship is required to create these screens.
Used for decades and then left in in storage much of the past century this remains in
good functional condition
. It
measures approximately 34 1/2" wide by 66" long (66 x 168 cm). Makes a decorative wall hanging, elegant window blind or screen for a shelving unit.
