Japanese? Mixed Metal Brass Copper Aesthetic Antique Bookmark Letter Opener Turn

ABOUT:
Antique bookmark / page turner / letter opener in what looks to be a Japonesque style of mixed metals with the long part being a warm antique brass and the top section being I believe copper with applied brass gourd and vine/ leaves and a bird.  The brass is also engraved with birds and grass.
I actually acquired this in France from an estate dealer. So I do not know if it was made there in the Japanese style, or if it was made somewhere else.  The applied gourd and bird details are riveted on, as is the copper section, sort of clipped through the longer brass piece as you can see in photos.  They wobble and move as the rivets are loose so the designs are not super sturdy.
Nice patina.  Some discoloration and a few spots from age, surface wear but could possibly be cleaned up further.  I didn't want to risk stripping the beautiful patina.  Due to age, this is not a mint condition item.
Measures 8 1/4 by 1 inch.
