Description
Land Snail and Slug Food(Earthworms, isopods, springtails, pot worms, may also eat the food)
Hand milled feed mix for Escargot, and other pet land gastropods. We feed this free-choice, dry to our Escargot snails(
Cornu aspersum/Helix aspersa
), Milk snails,
Bulimulus
, Eastern White Lip, Tramp, and Gloss Snails, as well as our pancake and garden slugs(shown in pics).
We use this to successfully raise our snails, and slugs, from hatchling size(1mm/pencil tip at the smallest) to adult(golf ball size for snail, or one large thumb for slug).
This is specially formulated to round out their diet, provide trace minerals, vitamins, proteins and fats, as a supplement to feeding fresh greens, detritus material, and calcium supplements. Our feed is finely ground to a dust-like consistency, in order to accommodate the smallest of mouth-bits, yet, easy enough for our adult snails to happy gnosh away. I include a calcium supplement on the side, as a free gift.
How to feed: A little bit goes a long way, for adults or larger individuals, from a pinch at a time to a full teaspoon for larger individuals.
Can be fed wet or dry. To feed wet, add a little bit of clean water, till the feed resembles oatmeal.
Only feed enough for them to eat while fresh, if the food is moistened, it won't last as long as dry fed, the feed may eventually mold, this is not healthy for snails nor slugs. Snails and slugs need moisture available at all times, this may be through moist greens, moss and/or moist soil.
Our base-feed contains: Corn, Hemp seed, Oats, Soy, Sorghum, Potato, layer mash, and flavorings(a seasonal blend).*
Our flavorings include of one or more of the following: Seasonal mushrooms aka Mushroom Medley: wild and cultivated(lion's mane, wood ear, cloud, oyster, chanterelle, etc.); Garden veggies(Root Royale): sweet potato, white potato, carrot, bell pepper. Veggie Delight(Heavy on the dark leafy greens): bok choy, spinach, kale, greens, Edible flower mix: Hibiscus(various types), dandelion, passionflower, melon flower.**If you want a custom blend, send me a note.** To use: Feed wet/dry, sprinkle in a dish, or mix with the General Feed Blend.
How to feed calcium supplement: The free calcium supplement gift is something we also use to help snails grow super strong shells, as well as encourage vitality and consistent shell growth over the course of their life. We sprinkle it onto the soil, where it acts two-fold, first in providing free choice calcium, second in neutralizing the ph. of the soil to a comfy level. Snails often will consume small amounts of soil, a bioactive substrate acts as a direct/indirect aid for snails and slugs to increase growth rate, survivability, shell pigmentation, and more(references below)
. To use: Sprinkle around the tank, even in the soil, or feed in a dish.
How to feed bonus Blend gifts: Just like the base feed, these pulverized blends can be fed alone, or used to flavor the base feed, dry or wet, free-choice or handfed.
Other Bonus Gifts: Occasionally we include stickers(for humans), little bags of treats/blends(for pets), follow on our social media(s) to help vote and decide what the next bonus gifts will be.
Price is per bag, which contains about 1oz./30gms. of snail food mix. Calcium supplement is a free gift.
