Mason Bee Nester Tube System

This
Nester tube system
consists of a 6 inch long by 5/16 inch I.D. , 0.040" thick wall Kraft paper tube. Inserted inside of the Guard tube is a 5.850 inch long white glassine paper liner.  The end is protected by a removable plastic plug. The liner is only used once and is replaced by a new liner when the season is over. Removal of the liner is done by removing the plastic plug and inserting a 5/16" plastic rod or wood dowel and gently moving the rod forward to push out the liner from the outer Guard tube.  This removal works quickly. The liner containing the Mason Bee cocoons can be stored in an enclosed container after August in most regions , out of  harms way from the predatory Chalcid  Wasps. The liners need to be stored in a cool, dry storage building.  The liners should be placed in a fine mesh bag for better protection.  Using the liners is a much better method of harvesting and ease of cleaning the Mason Bee cocoons and removing any mites.

There are various methods to clean the Cocoons, but the water method works the best to thoroughly clean them of  the frass, dirt and all the Bad stuff.
