FEATURED: One of the most stunning, exquisite and lovely things we've ever discovered, this 'WHITE PEONIES IN THE RAIN' JAPANESE SATSUMA GARDEN STAND will leave you entranced with its gracious beauty and uniqueness. The lush flowers and buds, created in a slightly raised relief, with tiny golden raindrops scattered across this garden, the bands of detailed stylized designwork at the bottom, center section and rim area, the detailed seat area, and those colors of whites, golds, reds, yellow and the rare, very exotic blueish-green background all are in love with each other, each area and detail enhancing those around it. Created by a Master Japanese artist who saw the beauty in a rainy day in a garden, and loved the Natural World as only the Japanese do, we were told this might be from old Kyoto, mid-late 1800's, but even the experts we consulted said they'd never seen one like this, with its relaxed atmosphere and simplicity in look- usually Satsuma is more formal, structured and packed with images. This beauty shows us those Tree Peonies dancing in the rain, no people, no other figures, no other flowers/trees, just those heavenly blooms and golden raindrops. Tall for a Jardiniere plant stand, at over 24 inches tall, and with all the intricate details on the seat, we wonder if perhaps it meant to be as it is, without a jardiniere pot. It certainly is stunning enough just as it is, certainly! A three-dimensional work of art to be appreciated on its own, needing nothing but admiration and appreciation for its exoticness and rareness. It is its own very beautiful flower garden, isn't it?MEASURES: 24.5 inches tall, @ 13 inches wide, in beautiful condition with slight, normal age-related wear to some of the glazework here and there. This has two Japanese Kanji characters ( which we were told mean 'right five' ?) found on the bottom, with no other marks/indications of artist found, possibly done in Kyoto, Japan. We were told this could be considered the rare Gosu Blue Satsuma ware, but could find nothing even close to this online anywhere. What we do know is that it is a stunning piece with very unusual colors and design, and stops everyone in their tracks when they see it. We were also told it dates to mid- late 1800's, probably, and may have been made for export, as the Japonisme movement was popular in Europe and America then and everyone wanted anything beautiful and Japanese and uniquely exotic, which this beauty certainly is! Ceramic, hand-painted and decorated, and a really unusual and very beautiful, sensual addition to any room and any decor. Want a statement piece that no one else will have? Want the perfect Christmas gift? This beauty would be all that, and so much more.
