    Description

“Not All Treasure is Silver and Gold”
One the many memorable lines from what is arguably the most popular movie in the Pirate film genre, it always struck me as something that could be taken as a great lesson, so I decided to memorialize it in a coin.
I wanted to tell a little bit of a story with this coin, as much as can be done in a 1.75 inch circle.
On one side, you have the words, “Not All Treasure is Silver and Gold” around the outside edge, and in the middle you can see the remains of a Pirate. He has his chest next to him, with coins strewn about. He is leaning back against a barrel of rum and still has a mug in his hand, presumably all he was left with. Having the treasure of silver and gold did him no good in the end, and he is left all alone.
On the other side, you can see a ship sailing away, the ship and her crew off to find other adventures and seek their treasure elsewhere, leaving the lone pirate behind with his treasure and rum.
This coin isdie struck, plated with copper, and given an antique finish to bring out the detail. Given the message of the coin, having them in silver or gold colored metals wouldn’t make sense, would it?
My point with making this coin, other than what I think is a great design, is this: Do not let your definition of treasure be limited to “Silver and Gold”, savvy?
